Thanksgiving past and future

Thanksgiving is here and gone for another year
So are the family  gatherings we hold dear
 Now all those leftovers how good they taste
Never fear they will not go to waste
Day three is here and  they’re looking sad
One more sandwich, gee I hope its not bad.
Next year I will make less  turkey and ham
Maybe one less potato and one less yam
I will plan  to make less salads and pie
I will not stick to this no matter  how hard I try.

Time to open  those  closed doors

Walk out into the waiting beauty

That all the world has to offer.

Creative Challenge # 226 ~Junkyard~

In the junkyard of my mind

I could go there all the time

To do that would not be kind

The things there are what I threw away

Deep hurts and sorrow,all forgot today

Love lost, sad thoughts go there to stay

For some reason the first shot showed the water drops that the fog is made of

The second is the picture I wanted. 

I did a couple more and they turned out the same.

Cool huh!

Creative Challenge ~Edge~

When we live on the edge
We are close to the slippery slope
Why  does this seem to happen so often

When we choose to make a change
We  are ready to take a chance on it all
Why hesitate when there is nothing to lose

When we dare to look to the future
We would be able to give a  sigh of relief
Why not take that step back from that slope

Genealogy on a Saturday

I thought today would be a good day to check out my Ancestry page and I am glad I did. I could not figure out how a G-G-G aunt did not have her maiden name on any of the census or other information. Duh! her maiden name was the same as her married name. I finally found her parents . They were double first cousins. This was not unusual back in the day, most families ventured forth in bunches  when settling  this new land of ours.
It is also amazing that  anyone born in 1812 would have pictures but they do, I guess cameras were not unusual by 1850, specially out in early settlements in Oregon. It also amazes me how crabby they always look.
